When one watches a film by Lars von Trier, they might be inclined to gain insight on his upbringing and while we don’t have any home movies, today brings a look at his first short film. Upon receiving a Super-8 camera in 1967, and 11-year-old Lars Trier (he didn’t don the von until film school) created the two-minute short, Turen til Squach land… En Super Pølse film, also known as Trip to Squash Land… A Super Sausage film.
Shared by Dangerous Minds, it features a sausage come to life (perhaps he’s not as dissimilar to Seth Rogen as we thought) as it interacts with animals such as whales and bunnies. It’s certainly the most lighthearted thing the director has taken part in, even if it has somewhat unsettling undertones paired with the music. Check out the stop-motion cartoon below as we await release news of the “hardcore” version of Nymphomaniac.
