Not to be confused with Ridley Scott‘s upcoming Prometheus, after picking up the sci-fi feature Prosthesis back in January, Variety has just informed us that Universal has finally chosen a writer to pen the project; they’ve tapped Walking Dead writer and producer Scott M. Gimple for the job.

Gotham Group and 1stAve Machine are producing, with Arvind Palep directing. Palep roped in Universal after giving a 10-minute teaser presentation that blended “VFX with storyboards and live-action footage.” One of the producers, Eric Robinson, claimed the project to be “an epic, in the purest sense of the word.” The project will also “rely on Palep‘s ability to create immersive worlds parallel to our own.”

To reiterate the point I made back in January, you always have to take these statements with a grain of salt; however, hiring Scott Gimple surely adds credibility to the sci-fier. We’re still not getting much details on the plot, but I’m a Walking Dead fan, so this news has be intrigued to say the least. Although the AMC drama has been widely successful, we can’t forget that the scribe also just co-wrote the poorly received Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

What do you think of Gimple writing Prosthesis?
