Growing up across the pond, my first introduction to comedic actor Steve Coogan was his work in films like Tropic Thunder and even the imported 24 Hour Party People, but those in the UK seem to know him best as fictional talk show host Alan Partridge from I’m Alan Partridge. While that show went off the air in 2002, Coogan has reprised the role in various specials and other happenings since that, but he’s officially back for a new movie this summer.

We’ve got the new full-length trailer for the film today, which reveals a plot surrounding a hostage crisis of a disgruntled employee (Colm Meaney). It looks fairly hilarious and something I hope we’ll get in the U.S. soon after its summer international release. Coming from television director Declan Lowney (Little BritainFather Ted), who has already worked with Coogan on various other projects, the film is written by Peter Baynham, Steve Coogan, Armando Iannucci, Neil and Rob Gibbons, and one can check out the new trailer below.

Alpha Papa opens on August 7th.
