After fighting terrorists for Peter Berg in Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg‘s next foe is the BP oil spill. The director and actor have reunited for Deepwater Horizon, which depicts the harrowing explosion in April 2010, which killed 11 crewman. Ahead of a fall release, the first trailer has now landed.
As some might be aware, this drama was once set to be directed by A Most Violent Year‘s J.C. Chandor, but he dropped it after a conflicting vision with the producers. The resulting film looks to fully employ Berg’s saccharine side with some intense-looking sequences. Also starring Kurt Russell, Gina Rodriguez, Kate Hudson and Dylan O’Brien, check out the trailer and poster below.
Deepwater Horizon opens on September 30th.
