Ahead of a premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the first trailer for Lee Sang-il‘s thriller Rage has arrived. The premise sees one brutal murder connecting the threads of three seemingly unrelated narratives across three Japanese cities, with imagery of strange, sinister symbols painted in blood, colorful nightclubs, and an effective use of rain and water.
The stellar cast includes Ken Watanabe, Aoi Miyazaki, Satoshi Tsumabuki, Gô Ayano, Suzi Hirose, Hikari Mitsushima, and Mirari Moriyama. The clever trailer poses a symbol proposition: one of them is the murderer. Lee Sang-il previously worked with Watanabe on his remake of Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven. See the trailer below, along with a poster and new images.
A grisly unsolved murder links three seemingly unrelated stories in three different Japanese cities, in this arresting ensemble thriller from director Sang-il Lee (Unforgiven).
Following a TIFF premiere, Rage opens in Japan on September 17th, but has yet to find U.S. distribution.
