After delivering one of the funniest surprises of 2011 with Horrible Bosses, director Seth Gordon has grabbed the break-out star of another major comedy surprise that summer, with Bridesmaid‘s Melissa McCarthy. Teaming the actress with his previous actor Jason Bateman, his latest comedy sees the Arrested Development star’s identity stolen and hijinks ensue in Florida.

Following some posters last night, we’ve got the first trailer for Identity Thief today which looks to pack more of the same high-energy humor for his last effort. While this trailer relies heavily on slapstick, our main combo seems to have some great chemistry, which could deliver another surprise early next year. Check it out below for the film also starring Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick and Eric Stonestreet.

Synopsis:

In the film, unlimited funds have allowed Diana (Melissa McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson”… and it belongs to an accounts rep (Jason Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.

With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.

Identity Thief arrives on February 8th, 2013.
