Premiering at Toronto International Film Festival 2011, it will be nearly two whole years before Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s horror film You’re Next finally hits theaters. Since then, the home-invasion horror has been picked up by Lionsgate, showed at a few more festivals (including SXSW and Fantastic Fest), and will now be arriving at the end of the summer.
The first trailer has now arrived today for the film which we said has “all-around smart horror filmmaking and writing, with Barrett injecting humor at the perfect moments.” We added, “Despite being able to guess who the bad guys are early on and the fairly generic motivation driving them, You’re Next is a witty take on a tired genre.” Check out the footage below for the film starring Sharni Vinson, Joe Swanberg, A.J. Synopsis:
