Matthew Vaughn handed back the X-Men franchise to Bryan Singer for Days of Future Past, which will be debuting this weekend, and today brings a first look at the Kick-Ass director’s new project, another adaptation of a Mark Millar comic book. Kingsman: The Secret Service marks the first major action role for Colin Firth, who plays an intelligence agent that trains a protege.
“We missed all the spy movies we loved as kids, whether it was Bond or In Like Flint,” Vaughn told EW, explaining the tone. “They had a sense of humor as well as being a thriller. With [Kingsman], we’re subversing the spy movie genre as we know it.” The first trailer shows off some flashy action sequences, as one might expect from Vaughn, as well as some clever exchanges, perhaps leading to a surprise hit this fall. Also starring newcomer Taron Egerton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael Caine, check it out below, along with the poster.
Kingsman: The Secret Service opens on October 24th.
