Oh boy, here’s a combo. After signing onto two very promising projects with both William Friedkin and David Gordon Green, Nicolas Cage is going back in time again, even further than the 14th century-set Season of the Witch — and he’s bringing along Hayden Christensen for the ride.

The Wrap has news of the upcoming project, which teams Cage and Christensen in 10th century China, as a mysterious warrior teams up with the daughter and son of a deposed Chinese Emperor to defeat their cruel Uncle, who seeks their deaths. Set to be directed by stuntman Nick Powell (Resident Evil: Retribution, The Three Musketeers), who is helming his debut from James Dormer‘s script, the $25 million project will be on the American Film Market for perspective buyers.

Christensen has taken it relatively light the last few years, popping up in just Takers and Vanishing on 7th Street, but hopefully he can stand by here as Cage brings the crazy. While I’m not enthused by the plot synopsis, the idea of Cage taking revenge all over China could prove to be entertaining. Production is looking to start early next year, so expect more news soon.
