Wrapping up their Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy with The World’s End last year, it seemed liked we would have to wait longer than expected for another collaboration from the group, which includes Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost. With the director developing Ant-Man before moving on and Pegg involved in a number of projects, including the next Mission: Impossible and Star Trek films, it seemed far off, but clearly inevitable that everyone would reunite.

Speaking with BBC 6 Music (via Digital Spy), Pegg confirmed such news, saying that “Edgar and I were having a conversation the other day about it, and it has a title and everything. We’re kind of into a creative cycle now.” With Wright lining up potential projects, Pegg admitted, “We’ve all got different things [going] on and we know we have to get those things done. The coming-together thing is without question on the table and will happen when we can do it.”

While no plot details were shared, Pegg went on to say that their last trilogy has related ideas and “criteria” to each film, but “the next thing we do won’t do that, it will just be something else. It will happen.” We also may be getting more than just this one project, as Pegg adds, “We made three films in ten years and hopefully in the next decade we’ll make another three. I really love working with those guys and I wouldn’t ever not want to work with them. It’s not even a question.”

So, it might be a few years before we see the gang back together, it’s nice to know that early plans on underway for a reunion. For those completists, you can also see Pegg and Frost back in character this fall. In the meantime, check out a great visual analysis for why we’re looking forward to their next collaboration.

What would you like to see the Wright and company tackle next?
