Just a few days ago, we reported that writer and director James Wan had pulled in Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga to star in his latest haunted house horror show, then known as The Conjuring. Now, THR tells us that Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor are joining the project, now known as Untitled Warren Files Project.
The script, written by Chad and Carey Hayes — the scribe duo behind the House of Wax remake — revolves around a “husband and wife (Wilson, Farmiga) of demonologists and psychic investigators who enter the most horrifying case of their career, spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse.” Livingston and Taylor are set to play a couple who move into the farmhouse with their kids as weird things begin to happen.
Similar to horror movies like The Amityville Horror — which was based on the “real” paranormal activities experience by the Lutz family in 1977 — the untitled project is based on the “real life story” of the Perron family, and what happened to them back in the ’70s. New Line acquired this as a pitch from Hayes, a package that also included the life rights to both the Perron family and Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Taylor has had past experience in the genre with her work in The Haunting remake, but it should be pretty interesting to see Livingston — who’s predominantly know for his work in comedies — join in on the horror movie fun. Since both actors have been making the indie movie rounds, I haven’t really seen them star in anything for some years; this could be a good way for them to get back into the masses. After his hit with Insidious last year, it seems that Wan has the tools to construct a not-so-bad horror movie, making this project a half decent one to get behind.
Shooting for the project is expected to begin sometime this March in North Carolina.
What are your thoughts on the project as of now?
