Kristen Stewart and Elizabeth Banks Slip On ‘The Big Shoe’ For Erotic Comedy

Written by on February 7, 2013

With it being nearly seven years since his Nicole Kidman-led  biopic Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus hit screens, director Steven Shainberg is finally lining up his next project. Last spring the Secretary director grabbed Susan Sarandon and Jim Sturgess for his upcoming film The Big Shoe and now more cast members have been announced.

Out of Berlin, Deadline is reporting that Kristen Stewart and Elizabeth Banks are teaming up for the project described as “sexy comedic drama.” Written by Shainberg and Mickey Birnbaum, the movie centers on a shoe designer, Nate (Sturgess), who’s “forced to break free from a family who wants to cheapen his art for their own commercial gain.” In an attempt to get Nate back into the swing of things, his mother (Sarandon) hires a psychoanalyst (Banks) and a muse (Stewart).

Not unlike his sultry Secretary, the film is said to “explore a playful, romantic, sexy, intimate connection” with a mix of eroticism and humor. Although no production start is set yet, the drama may mark Stewart’s first post-Twilight role. She also has the drama Focus set up, but her co-star Ben Affleck recently departed, leaving the project in question until producers find a new lead. If a company were to pick up The Big Shoe at Berlin, perhaps we could see it move forward sooner.

What do you think of Stewart and Banks teaming up together for this drama?
