Although he wasn’t mentioned by name, David Gordon Green‘s works got celebrated, lambasted and sequelized in This is the End and now the director is set to return to theaters this summer for a new dramedy. Following Hollywood efforts such as Pineapple Express, Your Highness and The Sitter, Prince Avalanche sees him taking some of the comedy he’s learned in the studio space and melding it with his dramatic roots.
Featuring just Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch on a work-related adventure in a desolate area of Texas, this remake of the Icelandic film Either Way had a teaser a few month’s after hits Sundance debut, but now the first full-length trailer has landed. We said “the relaxed, lively Prince Avalanche shines with a strong heart” and it’s apparent in this charming look. Check it out below along with a new poster.
An odd couple of sorts, meditative and stern Alvin (Rudd) and his girlfriend’s brother, Lance (Hirsch), dopey and insecure, leave the city behind to spend the summer in solitude repainting traffic lines down the center of a country highway ravaged by wildfire. As they sink into their job in the remarkable landscape, they learn more than they want to about each other and their own limitations. An unlikely friendship develops through humor and nasty exchanges, leading to surprising affection.
