The Wachowskis are coming back in a big way after the failed Speed Racer, with their Tom Tykwer team-up Cloud Atlas arriving this year and another big project in the works. The latter, titled Jupiter Ascending, marks their first solo project since their 2008 bomb and we got word in that fall that is moving full steam ahead by WB. 24 Frames now lets us know who may lead the sci-fi action movie.
Their V for Vendetta star Natalie Portman is planning her first post-baby role and it could be the next Wachowski film. Their source says the actress is “seriously weighing taking the part,” which plans to shoot this fall, after Wachowskis finish editing Cloud Atlas. Most actors ride the wave off their Oscar success, but after Portman picked up her Academy Award for Black Swan, she has laid low to spend time with her newborn.
It is time to get back into the game and I can only hope she can fit in a project like this instead of the wholly uninteresting prospect of Thor 2, a film she is contractually obligated to do. We also just reported the actress is stirring around the idea of a “very personal documentary” based on novelist Jonathan Safran Foer‘s non-fiction book, Eating Animals.
Expect Cloud Atlas to arrive late this year and final casting decisions for their next project to arrive in the same timeframe.
