Monsters, the low-budget sci-fi film from Gareth Edwards, has been continually gaining buzz in its festival circuit run. I hope to catch here in Toronto before the fest is over. Now, Deadline reports Edwards already has his next gig lined up.

He will be teaming with Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) as producer on a brand new sci-fi film that Edwards will write and direct. The project is described as “an epic human story, set in a futuristic world without humanity.”

One of the interesting pieces in this report is that Deadline says Monsters costs $100,000 as well as another $400,000 post-production including visual effects. I was under the impression, according to every report I read, that it was only $15,000. Hopefully Edwards can give us an answer. Either way, it’s impressive.

As for this project, I can’t even comprehend what the director could do with a massive budget with what he was able to do on Monsters. I can’t wait to get more details.

Monsters hits theaters in October.
