Rumors of a troubled production? Check. The cast bracing for negative reactions? Check. A review embargo a day before release? Check. A last-ditch effort to sell audiences with a four-minute trailer the week of release? Check (see below). While there are many factors that make us hesitant about Josh Trank‘s Fantastic Four, we’re still hoping for the best and one element that has us most intrigued is the score.
A collaboration between legendary musician Philip Glass (Qatsi trilogy, Mishima, Kundun, The Truman Show) and go-to tentpole composer Marco Beltrami (World War Z, Snowpiercer), we’re hoping there’s something special to be had. “What we were trying to achieve musically was the spirit of curiosity and innocence,” Beltrami says. “We were inspired by the film’s scientific exploration from the point of view of these young characters, and how their curiosity develops into a position of power.”
The full score is now available to listen to ahead of the film’s release, and while we’re saving it for a theatrical experience, it can be streamed below.
Fantastic Four opens on August 7th.
