When your last movie stars Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts and barely registers in the minds of moviegoers, it will certainly take some time to cool off. But after his 2011 disappointment Dream House, it looks like Jim Sheridan is finally back in the game with a new project.
First revealed over at Deadline, the In the Name of the Father director has come aboard a new period drama titled Playing With The Enemy. Coming from Gary W. Moore‘s novel, Sheridan is set to rewrite the film which follows a 15-year-old boy (Moore’s father) who gets drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1940 and then joined the Navy, where he taught German POWs his baseball skills. Expect casting announcements soon for the production that could kick off by year’s end.
In other directing news, Vince Vaughn has pulled back in a collaborator for his next major studio comedy. After helming Starbuck, Ken Scott came over to Hollywood to direct his own remake, Delivery Man, which is set to bow this fall with Vaughn leading. Now we’ve got word that he’ll helm Business Trip, coming frpm The Pursuit of Happyness writer Steve Conrad. The film will follow Vaughn as an American businessman who travels to Europe and hell breaks loose. Described in the vein of Planes, Trains & Automobiles, production begins this fall.
Are you looking forward to either of the above projects?
