Jessica Chastain is set to star alongside Shia LaBeouf and every one’s favourite Englishman, Tom Hardy, in Prohibition-drama, The Wettest Country. [THR]

Set during the days when alcohol was a big no-no for one and all, The Wettest Country is to be directed by John Hillcoat (most notable for The Road) and is being produced by Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher’s Red Wagon company.

The movie has had up and down beginnings, losing and gaining stars and financing, with only one thing remaining solid, LaBeouf’s passion for the project. Based on the novel The Wettest Country in the World, by Matt Bondurant, the true story focuses on two bootlegging brothers who are chasing the American dream, without the help of the law.

Rising star Chastain, who stars in Terrence Malick‘s The Tree of Life with Brad Pitt, has been brought on as Hardy‘s love interest, a girl from the city who gets herself involved with the unruly brothers.

Good casting choice? Or are you waiting for Tree of Life to see what she brings?
