According to Cinema Blend (via Pajiba), audiences may or may not be getting more of Tony Stark’s buddy, Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes on the silver screen in the form of an Iron Man spin-off. In what is essentially still high speculation, the only concrete bit of evidence is that studios have pitched their idea to writers, and are currently looking for someone to fashion a script starring the big, black badass, with no word yet on plot, or if Don Cheadle will return. To muddle up the rumor mill even more, Cheadle’s last word on the matter dismissed any actual possibility of a spin-off film.
Personally, I could do without more Iron Man films than we need, especially because Rhodes’ character has never been terribly interesting. Although, it seems that the powers that be think otherwise.
Iron Man 3 is currently scheduled for a May 3rd, 2013 release by Disney, while The Avengers is looking to premiere summer 2012.
