One can’t listen to more than a few seconds of Kavinsky‘s Nightcall or College‘s A Real Hero before being taken directly back to Nicolas Winding Refn‘s version of Los Angeles in Drive. Integral to the director’s 2011, Ryan Gosling-led break-out hit was indeed the soundtrack and Cliff Martinez‘s score, but now a few years later, we’re getting a new spin.

BBC Radio 1’s DJ/host Zane Lowe has embarked on a project that features a rescored version of the film with new tracks by Chvrches, Foals, SBTRKT, Jon Hopkins, Laura Mvula, the 1975, Baauer, BANKS, Bastille, Bring Me The Horizon, Eric Prydz, the Neighbourhood, and ZCC. “I consider it a great honor that my movie Drive inspired so many wonderful artists to come together and create one ultra-cool glam experience,” Refn says, giving his full backing to the endeavor.

While those outside of the U.K. are out of luck (it airs on October 30th only on BBC 3 with viewers able to switch from this new score to the original score), we imagine if it’s a success, we’ll see it ported elsewhere. Considering something like this would normally be reserved for YouTubers looking to get clicks, it’s certainly a strange, intriguing experiment, especially given how much effort was involved, along with blessing from its original creator.

As we await to see (or rather hear) the results, check out the trailer and listen to Chvrches’ Get Away, made exclusively for the project, courtesy of Pitchfork:
