After years of being in development, Mark Wahlberg‘s passion project has come to life. Directed by David O. Russell (Flirting With Disaster, Three Kings, I <3 Huckabees) the boxing film also stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Melissa Leo. It looks good, but I still find it hard to take Wahlberg’s voice seriously after its been parodied so much. I’ve been enjoying his recent comedic roles in Date Night and The Other Guys, so I hope he deliver with drama here. Apple has debuted the trailer and you can check it out below via FS.Net.

Plot: Shepherded his half-brother “Irish” Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg), Dicky had a Rocky-like rise to the world lightweight championship. Ward fought throughout the mid-’80s and ’90s, but he’s best remembered for three battles with Arturo Gotti, two of which went down as the greatest in the history of the sport. Amy Adams plays “a tough, gritty bartender and former college high-jumper” who ends up dating Wahlberg’s character.

The Fighter will get a limited release on December 10th before releasing wide on December 17th.
