The on-and-off announcements surrounding a new Cameron Crowe film commence once again. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Bradley Cooper let slip that the project, of which he is a major player, will include the talents of Danny McBride — his addition expanding a cast that is already set to feature Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams. That it sounds appealing enough would, naturally, make a lack of information about the title more of a curiosity-heightener.
Rumors have suggested that it’s his rewrite of a years-old script called Deep Tiki, in which a military contractor (who would be portrayed by Cooper) is asked to launch a military satellite over Hawaii, a task which requires him to work alongside a liaison (likely Stone) that will obtain approval from the island’s spiritual leaders. Close your eyes, cover yours ears, and you can already imagine McBride doing his “thing” across America’s most tropical state. More information should become available as a fall production is set into motion.
Before you go, take one minute to watch a Dick’s Sporting Goods commercial from Derek Cianfrance, with whom Cooper had collaborated on this spring’s The Place Beyond the Pines. You might recall the director composing an equal-length piece surrounding the great American game of baseball; now, it’s the less-great match we call football. A visually explosive single-take operation, it’s worth the quick viewing time.
Have a gander at his commercial (via AdWeek):
Do McBride and Crowe strike you as good fits? Any reaction to the advertisement?
