While we’ve known for quite some time intentions to lock down Daniel Craig for five James Bond features, it’s now been confirmed that he’s on board. MI6 reports that unlike Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton — who both bolted mid-contract — Craig is set to appear in Bond 24 and Bond 25.
Following Skyfall‘s arrival in just mere months, the hope is still to get the next Bond out by 2014 through Sony Pictures, which would kick off a two-year cycle. That part is still not confirmed though, as reports indicate that this fast-paced schedule may be too much for EON Productions to handle, as they like to take their time on the script — especially after the snafu that was Quantum of Solace.
Craig also recently shared that he won’t confirm to any other non-Bond films — including the next Girl with the Dragon Tattoo film, even though he also signed a contract for that — until after his Skyfall press outing is done this year. Thankfully, Sony seems to be keeping that franchise on the backburner. With producers looking to sign writers for the next Bond film, expect some news soon even if we don’t end up seeing it in two years. At least we can all be glad Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall is indeed arriving in November in the US and next month in the UK.
Are you happy Craig is confirmed for more Bond?
