We have two new Clash of the Titans updates thanks to an MTV interview with director Louis Leterrier. As reported a few days ago the popular rock band Muse was offered to score the film. Leterrier clears this up and confirms he offered a part of the score to strictly Matt Bellamy, the lead singer/guitarist, but that he was far too busy (as we predicted). Composer Craig Armstrong (who worked with Leterrier on Incredible Hulk, the Edward Norton one) was always going to do the majority of the score and Bellamy was offered “around 30 minutes”. Now, instead of Bellamy, Neil Davidge fromMassive Attack will provide the 30 minutes Leterrier was looking for. Check out an example of their music below.

In a story a few weeks ago star Sam Worthington (Avatar) mentioned the possibility of 3D conversion and as we predicted, Leterrier confirms there is just not enough time for the conversion. He says:

We tried [to do 3-D for ‘Clash’]. We tried hard. We just won’t have time. Maybe we possibly can re-release it in 3-D. With all of the effort put into trying to release “Clash” in 3-D, it was tough to get on set every day and deal with Worthington and his “Avatar” experiences. Because it was Sam Worthington, I could hear all these 3-D stories from ‘Avatar.’ And James Cameron was calling often, and I was like ‘Guys, I’m doing the best I can with [the two dimensions] I’ve got!’ So if we ever get to do [‘Clash’] in 3-D, that would be fantastic. But it’ll never be as good as James Cameron’s stereoscopic 3-D.

I find the quip hilarious about James Cameron and Sam Worthington bragging how great 3-D was on Avatar. At least Leterrier realizes he can’t do 3D as well due to time and technology restraints and he will just release it the way it was intended. I also find it hard to believe they would actually re-release the film in 3D.

Clash of the Titans hits theaters March 26th, 2010 and check out the trailer here if you haven’t yet.

What do you think about Massive Attack on the score? Are you glad they are doing 3D?
