Eli Roth is back for bloody revenge with a remake of Death Wish after directors Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado (Big Bad Wolves) left over creative differences with producers, Deadline reports. Bruce Willis is set to star in the remake of the controversial 1974 action classic, filling the shoes of original star Charles Bronson.
Moving from straight horror territory with last year’s pairing of Green Inferno and Knock, Knock (both of which barely surpassed their budget in worldwide gross), Roth seems to be making a play for more commercially viable choices behind the camera. With a script originally penned by Joe Carnahan, before being taken over by writing duo Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander (Ed Wood, Big Eyes, Goosebumps, 1408), Death Wish could be a return to the violent and successful realm of Roth’s cornerstone calling card, Hostel.
