Although he was behind some family films like Tangled and Bolt, Dan Fogelman hit his big break with last summer’s enjoyable romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. After the screenwriter’s next project, The Guilt Trip, arrives later this year, he’s set to transition to the world of directing in the spring.
According to a press release, Fogelman is now moving forward on the project Imagine, which already has Al Pacino attached as of last year, now with Jeremy Renner and Julianne Moore filling out supporting roles. Originally eyed as a major Warner Bros. project with Steve Carell (who Renner will be replacing), the film will now kick off as an independent feature.
The drama follows Pacino’s rock star character, who after finding a letter from John Lennon that was intended to be delivered in his teens, he is spurred to set out on a journey to clean up and get back into making music he loves. He carries this out by visiting his estranged son (Renner) and becoming friends with a hotel manager (Moore), where he is staying at in New Jersey.
Shooting kicks off spring 2013.
Are you looking forward to the project?
