After being bombarded with incessant stills, an aimless poster and trivial teasers for teasers, the full thing is here — and by that I mean the first trailer for Iron Man 3. Stepping in for Jon Favreau, director of the first two films in the franchise, is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang‘s Shane Black, certainly my biggest draw coming into Marvel’s first “phase two” film following The Avengers.
Running just over two minutes, this introduces us to Stark’s new life, taking place just a few months after The Avengers. As we can see, his new enemy strips him of his toys and he is left to go on a solo journey. As with most blockbusters, the action looks top-notch so hopefully Black can break the mold and get us interested story-wise in a third film in the series. Check it out below (via Apple) for the film starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley.
Synopsis:
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Iron Man 3 arrives on May 3rd, 2013.
