I’m sure shooting Project X was a lot of fun, but I’m still not confident the final project will turn out that way. With producer Todd Phillips (director of The Hangover, Old School), director Nima Nourizadeh, who has worked on Santigold, Lily Allen and Hot Chip music videos, have come together to make a mysterious house party film. We now have the first trailer (with an interview from the director) from Vice, on the film based on a true out-of-control party.

Judging just from the trailer it looks like this may not appeal to anyone outside the demographic of its characters, but in the interview Nourizadeh said it “starts off being funny and progresses into something else. It’s sexy, but it gets dark.” With a cast of unknowns, many were handed cameras and told to shoot as much footage as possible. It was culled together to the product you see here. I’m getting flashbacks to last year’s The Virginity Hit which only grossed a little over half-a-million dollars, but this one at least seems to have bigger production value. Check it out below.

Project X hits theaters March 2nd, 2012.
