Millions of viewers will listen to the narrating voice of Ron Howard this weekend, signaling the triumphant return of Arrested Development on Netflix. But later this fall we’ll actually get to see a new film from him and his first since the disappointing rom-com-drama The Dilemma. Starring Chris Hemsworth, we’ve already had two trailers for his Formula One racing drama Rush this morning and now another one has landed.
Featuring Hemsworth as iconic racer James Hunt, he goes up against Inglourious Basterds‘s Daniel Brühl as Niki Lauda in the drama. Hopefully skirting the predictable, dry nature of some of Howard’s previous work, this looks to be a fairly intense, well-captured period piece. As one gears up for the silly thrills of Fast & Furious 6 this weekend, check it out below for the film also starring Olivia Wilde and Christian McKay.
RUSH is an upcoming biographical action-drama film directed by two-time Oscar winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon), who teams once again with fellow two-time Oscar nominee, writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen), about the 1976 Formula One season and the rivalry between drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
The film stars Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) as the charismatic Englishman James Hunt and Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds) as the disciplined Austrian perfectionist Niki Lauda, whose clashes on the Grand Prix racetrack epitomized the contrast between these two extraordinary characters, a distinction reflected in their private lives. Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy) and Alexandra Maria Lara (The Reader) also star in the film.
Rush opens on September 20th, 2013.
