After getting their start in the independent film world with projects such as A Horrible Way To Die, V/H/S and You’re Next, we all thought the filmmaking duo of Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett would be next jumping into studio territory with the Warner Bros. project Dead Spy Running, but it looks like another film has caught their attention first.
According to Variety, plans are in motion to make the action thriller The Guest their next film, which seems them back together with Snoot Entertainment. The story follows “a soldier taken in to the home of the family of a fallen comrade, who becomes a threat to those around him when they discover dangerous secrets in his past.”
Off the bat, the material doesn’t sound like something I’d imagine this pair going after, but I’m intrigued to see them head into this direction. Again, Wingard will be directing while Barrett takes on writing duties and the film is already set for a May production start, so stay tuned for casting updates.
