According to Deadline, the writing duo behind Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, Jason Oremland and Greg Erb, have been hired to rewrite Cryptozoologists. Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo will be producing the project with Tripp Vinson for New Line.

Although there hasn’t been much information on the project as of now, it has been described as “Men In Black meets Ghostbusters.” Written originally by David Gilcreast, “when frequent sightings of storied mythological creatures start occurring around San Francisco, a skeptic professor and his estranged cryptozoologist brother must band together to save the city.” Cryptozoology is most literally translated to the study of hidden animals, for those who were wondering.

Flynn most recently produced Journey 2: The Mysterious Island also for New Line, which has grossed over $200 million in its run as of now. The duo just adapted their graphic novel The Return of King Doug for DreamWorks, with Ben Stiller already attached. New Line isn’t generally known for their animated feature releases, so this partnership could end up being a big money making union. I think the whole cryptozoology concept sounds fun and perfect for an animated feature, especially with Oremland and Erb attached.

Do you like the idea of Oremland and Erb rewriting Cryptozoologists?
