One of the top 25 grossing documentaries of all-time, we called Asif Kapadia‘s Amy “a devastating, infuriating and sometimes breathtaking watch,” one that “finds some startling truths lurking behind all the music, tabloids and nonsense” when it comes to the late singer’s downfall and tragic death. On the heels of the successful film’s digital release, word has now arrived her life will once again be seen on screen, this time in biopic form.
According to ScreenDaily, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Prometheus star Noomi Rapace is currently in talks to take the role of Amy Winehouse in a forthcoming biopic. Jim Sheridan‘s daughter Kirsten Sheridan (August Rush) has completed a script which she’ll direct and plans are underway to license the late singer’s music. Unfortunately, there’s no details if this will take a look at a specific time in her all-too-short 27-year life or go the standard biopic route, but we can clearly see how Rapace could excel in the role.
Coming from Subotica Films, who have biopic experience with Jimi: All Is by My Side and City Entertainment, if this sells well on the American Film Market, expect more updates soon.
Would you see a biopic on Winehouse? Do you think Rapace fits the role?
