Casting for Richard LaGravenese‘s Beautiful Creatures has continued to gather steam, as Variety reports Margo Martindale (Justified), Zoey Deutch (Ringer) and Rachel Brosnahan (The Unborn) have joined the supernatural love story.

Based on Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl‘s popular series, Alcon Entertainment has already gained the film rights to all three of the books, with hopes of formulating a franchise at Warner Bros. Creatures is the first of the series and is written and directed by LaGravenese.

Jack O’Connell and Alice Englert star as Ethan and Lena, “teenage lovers who uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town.” The three newcomers are also welcomed by Oscar-winners Viola Davis, Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, and Emmy Rossum and Project X’s Thomas Mann. Martindale is set to play Lena’s Aunt Del, “who helps to protect her from the family’s dark side.” Deutch will play Emily Asher, “Ethan’s ex-girlfriend and the ringleader of the high school’s popular clique that conspires against Lena. And finally, Brosnahan will play Genevieve, “who appears as Ethan’s love interest in flashbacks.”

Martindale has had several supporting roles on TV shows over the years, most notably in Dexter as well as Justified, of which she won an Emmy for. Deutch has also found luck on TV, where she has a recurring role on the CW’s Ringer and will appear next in The Amazing Spider-Man. Brosnahan has the upcoming crime drama A New York Heartbeat currently in post production.

Filming for Beautiful Creatures will begin next month in New Orleans.
