It’s a good 24 hours when one gets to write about the work of Terence Davies twice, following his birthday no less. After the trailer debut of his magnificent new film Sunset Song, we now have a batch of new images from his next feature A Quiet Passion, which chronicles the life and work of Emily Dickinson, here played by Cynthia Nixon.
Also starring Jennifer Ehle, Keith Carradine, and Emma Bell, there’s no word yet on when we might see the feature, but we imagine a 2016 festival debut is in the cards. As for those wondering the style of the film, we imagine it hews closer to the above, previously released still, rather than the below, which looks to come from an on set photographer.
Check out the photos below, thanks to the production company, as well as an official synopsis for the highly anticipated film.
She wrote a poem a day, but only a fraction of her output was published throughout her lifetime. She was extremely shy, but with a wry, lively sense of humour and loved to laugh or to be made to laugh. Her friendships were intense but it was within the family that she found her greatest happiness. Her life is one of quiet dignity. The poetry magnificent. All the terror and beauty of the world distilled down to the quintessence of meaning and expression. She is quite simply one of the world’s greatest poets.
