Sorry, folks. It looks like Universal will not be going with Fast Six, 6 Fast 6 Furious, or any other alternatives. They’ve delivered the first poster for the next iteration in the car racing series and it’s slapped with the official title of Fast & Furious 6. Featuring blue skies, an open road and star Vin Diesel next to his trusty automobile, it’s a fitting one-sheet for the blockbuster that will see the return of director Justin Lin.
If it wasn’t for the purely entertaining Fast Five, I certainly wouldn’t be looking forward to this one so much, but adding in Haywire star Gina Carano and bringing back Lin has me hopeful this one will deliver the same brainless, diverting thrills. Also starring Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Michelle Rodriguez, take a look at the poster below, along with the synopsis. And check back tomorrow for our first look at footage during the Super Bowl.
Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.
Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.
Fast & Furious 6 hits theaters on May 24th.
