Hitting theaters last night, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s directorial debut This is the End is easily the comedy event of the summer. One can see our full review here, but before you head into theaters we wanted to highlight the basis for this recently released feature. Back in 2006, Rogen and Goldberg got together with Jason Stone to create a short work titled Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse.
Featuring Jay Baruchel and Rogen, the film follows the pair holed up in their apartment as the world crumbles around them. They released this trailer and after it became a viral hit many thought we’d eventually see the full 9-minute short, but Rogen recently stopped by The Comedy Bang Bang podcast and said it’ll never see the light of day. Thankfully, we’ve got the feature film it led to, so check out the beginnings below, and as a bonus, see a special episode of MTV’s Real World featuring Rogen, Baruchel, James Franco, Danny McBride and more.
This is the End is now in theaters.
