While our current movie season includes the most comprehensive, expansive visual effects work of the year, a certain foreign title is giving the Hollywood slate a run for its money. Featuring 512 visual effects shots, Wong Kar-wai’s Ip Man biopic The Grandmaster has already seen a release elsewhere, but will be landing near the end of the summer in the U.S.

Ahead of its domestic debut, we’ve got an impressive 3.5-minute visual effects reel that breaks down a great number of shots, detailing the on-set version all the way to the final process. Starring Tony Leung and Ziyi Zhang, this project wasn’t shot by Christopher Doyle (rather Philippe Le Sourd), but still looks to contain gorgeous cinematography. Check out the featurette below via First Showing, as well as the poster if you missed it.

The Grandmaster opens on August 23rd.
