Having emerged as a capable dramatic lead with The Perks of Being a Wallflower last fall, Logan Lerman is returning to his franchise of Percy Jackson this summer. Following the 2010 debut film, which grossed a modest $226 million worldwide, 20th Century put into production Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and we’ve got the first trailer today.

Retaining some of the offbeat wackiness found in the first film, there’s some fun, inventive set pieces on display (including what looks to be a major one in the Bermuda Triangle) and light humor, which should deliver for fans of the series. Check it out below via MTV for the film also starring Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Douglas Smith, Mary Birdsong, Yvette Nicole Brown, Missi Pyle, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Head, Paloma Kwiatkowski, Leven Rambin, Stanley Tucci, Robert Maillet and Zoe Aggeliki.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters arrives on August 16th.
