‘Project X’ Trailer #2

Written by on January 19, 2012

As soon as the first trailer for Project X was released in November, the movie instantly earned a place on my “Most Anticipated of 2012” list. To me, it was a near-perfect preview — one that revealed very little but showed enough to hint at the possibilities. (The excellent song choice, Steve Aoki’s remix of Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness”, didn’t hurt, either.) Now with the release of Project X a mere two months away, a full-length theatrical trailer has come out.

Despite the fact I didn’t find the jokes in the trailer funny, Project X remains a movie that I absolutely need to see. There’s just something so appealing about seeing a party spiral out of control, and the mystery of both the guy with the flamethrower and the SWAT team (seen briefly in the teaser) continue to lure me in. I fully acknowledge that this could end up being terrible, but I still believe in the potential of the thing. If done right, it could be a breath of fresh air for the found footage style, as well as a new benchmark in teen-oriented movies.

You can view it below, or in HD over at Apple:

Synopsis: “Project X” follows three seemingly anonymous high school seniors as they attempt to finally make a name for themselves. Their idea is innocent enough: let’s throw a party that no one will forget… but nothing could prepare them for this party. Word spreads quickly as dreams are ruined, records are blemished and legends are born. “Project X” is a warning to parents and police everywhere. This film has been rated R for crude and sexual content throughout, nudity, drugs, drinking, pervasive language, reckless behavior and mayhem-all involving teens.

Directed by Nima Nourizadeh and produced by The Hangover director Todd Phillips, Project X theaters March 2nd. Here’s hoping it leads to a string of copycat parties; not enough people destroy suburban neighborhoods with flamethrowers.

What are you thoughts on Project X? Does it look interesting or am I just being irrational and insane?
