When it comes to Susanne Bier-directed features we expected to be part of the fall festival line-up, the long-delayed Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence-led Serena came to mind. Instead, Toronto International Film Festival announced that her next drama A Second Chance will be premiering there.

A return to Denmark (complete in the Danish language), the first trailer has dropped today, which reveals the story of a man who looks to kidnap a baby in order to get it out of a horrible family situation. It’s certainly material for compelling drama, so hopefully it’s one of the highlights of the festival. Starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Ulrich Thomsen, Maria Bonnevie, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Lykke May Andersen, check out the trailer below.

How far are decent human beings willing to go, when tragedy blurs the line between just and unjust? Susanne Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen have crafted a startling yet moving drama, about how easily we lose our grasp on justice when confronted with the unthinkable, and life as we know it hangs by a thread.

TIFF kicks off on September 4th.
