Although it may seem like an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank, the idea of Seth Rogen and his best friends getting together for the apocalypse is no joke, but they are at least having some fun with the marketing. Following the first red band trailer for This is the End, another one has landed, which plays into today’s “holiday.”

Marking the directorial debut of Rogen and frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, the duo actually got some pushback from the studio when they revealed their plans to have everyone play themselves. Picked up by i09 at WonderCon, Rogen says, “The idea to let us play ourselves was a really hard thing. It really rubbed everybody the wrong way in the studio world.” So instead, they told the studio they would film both versions (which didn’t exactly go as planned), and after strong test screening results, they were able to stick with the current version.

We can also expect lots of celebrity deaths, as Rogen says they are in the “double digits” and they “killed most of [their] favorite stars, which may or may not include Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Emma Watson, Danny McBride, Michael Cera, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Martin Starr, Rihanna, Aziz Ansari and Kevin Hart. Check out the new red band trailer below, which teases one of Rogen, McBride and Franco’s biggest hits.

The comedy This Is The End follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

This Is The End opens on June 14th, 2013.
