Filming is set to begin this month on the sequel to the R-rated comedy that grossed over $450 million on just a $35m budget. Director Todd Phillips is prepping The Hangover 2 to shoot in Thailand, even though earlier reports denying it were untrue. As expected, the script will take full advantage of the underground sex industry. Latino Review reports on a big possible plot point. Check out what El Guapo found out below:
One of my sources deep within the bowels of Hollywood told me that after a hard night of partying Stu gets really drunk and ends up sleeping with a Thai tranny. The next day the guys have to try and rehash the night and figure out what happened.
It sounds like the similar story structure of focusing on the next morning will stay intact, but that sure is a way to kick things off. If this report is true, Ed Helms as Stu is a great character to focus on, but I hope he is in most of the film, unlike Doug (Justin Bartha) from the first. Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) are both returning as well. There was also a rumor earlier this year of shooting in 3D, but it has yet to be confirmed.
The Hangover 2 hits theaters May 26th, 2011. Todd Phillips’ next film Due Date hits theaters November 5th, 2010.
