After Bridesmaids star Wendi McLendon-Covey came aboard A White Trash Christmas, Deadline reports Hustle & Flow actress Taryn Manning is setting up to join the holiday trash fest as well.
The film will be in the same vein as A Christmas Carol, with Manning playing a trashy, alcoholic, unemployed hairdresser and mom visited by three ghosts who help pave the way to a brighter future. Ron Carlson will direct from a script he co-wrote with Terri Kauffman.
Manning has enough experience to play the trashy role — thanks to parts in Hustle & Flow and 8 Mile — and it is a good way for Manning to have a leading role, since she always seems to play the sidekick in her projects.
With casting still underway, there is no current release date for the project.
