From Michael Fassbender to Ryan Gosling to Leonardo DiCaprio, the talented Carey Mulligan continues to get a quality line-up of leading males to star alongside with and now the latest option is sure to stir in the hearts of Twi-hards everywhere. After proving himself a worthy leading man in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, Robert Pattinson is the latest star to join Mulligan in an upcoming feature.
Previously titled Nancy and Danny, Deadline reports that Mulligan and Pattinson are teaming up for the thriller now going by Hold On To Me. Directed by James Marsh, who won an Oscar for Man on Wire and is coming off another thriller, Shadow Dancer, the film follows the true story of a girlfriend (Mulligan) and boyfriend who plan to kidnap the richest man in their town and hold a ransom. When they bury him underground, things start to go, expectedly, downhill. Pattinson comes in as the longtime love of Mulligan’s character, but is in no way part of the crime.
Brad Ingelsby, who has the upcoming Out of the Furnace, wrote the script and this marks one of many smart decisions for Pattinson in a post-Twilight world. The young actor will star alongside Guy Pearce in the next film from Animal Kingdom‘s David Michod, The Rover, as well as a thriller that follows the capture of Saddam Hussein, Mission Blacklist — and even a Werner Herzog film.
