With it settled that only one member of Jurassic Park would be returning for Jurassic World, Colin Trevorrow is now filling out the rest of his cast and today we have the latest addition. Joining Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Ty Simpkins, and Nick Robinson is Omar Sy. The star of The Intouchables and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past revealed the news on Twitter, saying, “Fan of this saga from the beginning, I’m very proud to be part of the cast for JURASSIC WORLD.” While we don’t know exactly what character he’ll play, we imagine he’ll be stepping in for the once-rumored Idris Elba, who seems to have fallen off the project. Jurassic World will land on June 12th, 2015.
Next up, as he currently puts the finishing touches on his directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster, Ryan Gosling has kept his schedule open, not committing to any new projects. Today, however, we have another potential one to add to the pile, as THR reports he’s set to produce a biopic on Busby Berkeley, the legendary director and choreographer of a number of classic Hollywood musicals, including 42 Street and Gold Diggers of 1933. Based on Jeffrey Spivak‘s Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley, Gosling could also not only lead the project, but direct as well. With no writer attached though, don’t expect to see it for sometime.
Following the recent news that Woody Harrelson has been added to John Hillcoat‘s ensemble, Triple Nine, another name has been added to the epic ensemble. Joining Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Michael B. Jordan, Aaron Paul, Michael Peña, Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), and Gal Gadot (Batman vs. Superman‘s Wonder Woman) will be Anthony Mackie. Variety doesn’t have details on his role, but the Matt Cook-scripted thriller centers on a rookie cop (Jordan) set up by his fellow officers for a 999, or “Officer Down,” planned with the intent of completing a difficult heist orchestrated by Russian mobsters. Open Road will likely distribute the film next year.
Which of the above projects are you most looking forward to?
