With the project gearing up for announcements in coming weeks — a franchise expo in Germany this Saturday, followed by the D23 expo the weekend of August 9 — rumor mills concerning Star Wars: Episode VII have begun to churn once more. While an earlier, similar notice hasn’t exactly panned out as once indicated, the next casting bits, from LatinoReview, purport that J.J. Abrams and Disney have since met with three strapping stars about inheriting the most famous surnames in all the galaxy.

If what’s read it to be believed, the two who’ve not removed themselves from consideration Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron; details on the latter’s (potential) involvement goes undivulged, but the former, should he be circling, is in mind to portray the son of Luke Skywalker. (They both have blonde hair, so…) Once on that list was Leonardo DiCaprio: he’s alleged to have entered the building but never made it out with so much as an outline in his hand, having passed for a sci-fi property that’s more attuned to his own tastes: Robotech. (Robots created from alien technology are used to combat invading creatures from outer space; hopefully not too much in line with Pacific Rim, anyway.)

Abrams and company are expected to begin shooting this space opera around the beginning of 2014; with those aforementioned public displays hitting in a close, short amount of time, we might see stars announced before news even needs to be cleared up. Heck, I’d be content with signing Eddie Deezen for the lead if it stops some of this speculation.

Do you think there’s any truth to these rumors? What would you say if any of them fell together?
