For about the last decade, indie director Brad Anderson has carved out a name for himself in the horror/thriller arena with films like Session 9, The Machinist and Transsiberian. While he currently is finishing up the thriller The Hive with Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin, the director has already lined up his next possible project.
Out of American Film Market, STYD is reporting that Anderson has taken over a previous Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) film with Eliza Graves. Based on The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether, the ghastly tale by Edgar Allan Poe, the film is currently set up over at Nu Image and Millennium Films. Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill) has written the script that centers on an eager med school student, who goes to work at an asylum, where unbeknownst to him the inmates have taken over.
While the long-gestating project has had many names attached, including Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman, Johnny Depp, Heath Ledger and Ian McKellan, there’s no word on additional talent here, but Anderson is usually able to attract top names. With the last Poe-related film, The Raven, crashing and burning with both audiences and critics, hopefully Anderson can craft something worthy.
Are you looking forward to this potential Anderson project?
