Last night we got the revealing tidbit regarding Johnny Depp‘s character in Wally Pfister‘s directorial debut Transcendence. News hit he would play a scientist named Will who is murdered by anti-technology terrorists and his wife uploads his brain into a computer; soon enough Will is reborn in the machine and finds the ability to communicate through it, allowing him to continue conducting his research.
Now, after some rumored actresses (including Noomi Rapace and Kate Winslet), we’ve finally got the final three names for who is looking to play the wife character. According to Deadline, a final decision will be coming this Friday, but the three actresses are Emily Blunt, Rooney Mara and Rebecca Hall. Blunt may be the least likely considering she’s with Tom Cruise on the set of the sci-fi project All You Need Is Kill, but with Iron Man 3 wrapping up production, Hall is available and Mara also has an open schedule for the time being. While Blunt proved her sci-fi talents in Looper this fall, I’d be happy with any of these talented actresses taking on this much-anticipated film so hopefully we indeed get word by the end of the week.
Production kicks off on March 4th for a likely 2014 release.
