Without a peep regarding the movie in nearly a year, we’ve finally got word on when we’ll be able to see the next work from Spike Jonze. Picked up by Warner Bros., the studio revealed today that the drama will land in limited release on Wednesday, November 20th, 2013, near Friday releases of Vince Vaughn‘s Delivery Man (which just moved from October), as well as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and a limited release of Alexander Payne‘s Nebraska.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Samantha Morton, and Olivia Wilde, one can see the synopsis below for the Annapurna-produced film that will likely see a fall festival bow.
In the not so distant future, Theodore (Phoenix), a lonely writer purchases a newly developed operating system designed to meet the user’s every needs. To Theodore’s surprise, a romantic relationship develops between him and his operating system. This unconventional love story blends science fiction and romance in a sweet tale that explores the nature of love and the ways that technology isolates and connects us all.
In a minor release date update, we’ve also got word that the WikiLeaks drama The Fifth Estate has been bumped up to October 11th, 2013 from its original November bow. Directed by Bill Condon and starring Daniel Bruhl and Benedict Cumberbatch, it will face off against Captain Phillips and Oldboy.
