Today we’ve got our first look at two darker animation/puppetry projects. The first is Happytime Murders, and comes from Jim Henson‘s son Brian Henson, with a plot that centers on a case in which someone is killing off the cast of “The Happytime Gang”, and a P.I puppet must team up with a human to take down the murderer. The film might star Katherine Heigl and now Collider has our first look at concept art. It looks fun and twisted, unlike most of our children’s film offerings. Check out an image above and another close-up of our main puppet on the site.

From USA Today comes a look at Hotel Transylvania, an upcoming animation that is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory). The voices from Adam Sandler, Kevin James and David Spade leave a lot to be desired, but despite the Grown Ups group reunion, there is some strong directorial talent behind this one. Check out the image below and another over at the site for the film arriving on September 28th.

Which film are you most looking forward to?
